Well, I never said that my wife was the greatest housekeeper ever, but she did keep the kitchen in better shape than this.

Notice the yellow rope on the right side of the picture. Part of what we had to do in order to look for items that we could salvage was to tie ropes to the walls that had been knocked over and use trucks to pull them up as we looked under them.

When I arrived homeI climbed on top of what was remaining of our hall closet to take this picture. Notice that the flat screeen is still attached to the fireplace. After we dried it out it worked for almost two months before it finally quit. Kudos to Best Buy, they did a great job hanging it.

Volunteers were Wonderful!!

At times as Americans we get very jaded about the state of our country and the world. One positive thing that the Joplin, MO tornado did for me it that it renewed my belief in people. There were so many people that we did not know that just showed up to help. This young lady is standing in what use to be my garage.

Ok, so a little guilty pleasure on my part. Every fall for the almost fifteen years this oak tree, that belonged to my neighbor had filled my yard with leaves. So, when it was being removed, I had to take a picture.

It is not that I do not feel sorry for the people in Joplin that did not have insurance, but if everyone would have had one of these, Extreme Home Makeover would not need to be in Joplin.

This was what our house looked like two days after we arrived. The rain had stopped and we could finally put the address on the driveway and get a good look at everything.
