The story on one family!

Story of a Family from Joplin, MO after the Tornado

A few years ago, as a hobby I purchased two website names and started to teach myself how to build websites by using HTML code. I purchased MyJoplin.com as a way to list local businesses' and entertainment for others. And I purchased JoplinBoyScoutTroop.com to use with my son's Boy Scout Troop as a method of communication. When I purchased these website names with the word, "Joplin" in them I never thought that an F5 tornado would destroy 30% of the town. Because people from around the world were Googleing the words, "Joplin tornado" and Boy Scouts from around the world were Googleing, "Joplin Boy Scout Troop", my sites became hugely popular!!

I would have normally been extremely excited about this but I was a little busy because my house was one of the homes that was destroyed in the tornado. My family and I were exceptionally lucky. My wife and I were on vacation, out of the country at the time. And, because we were on vacation we had sent our daughter, Savannah to stay with her grandmother an hour away. My son, Brandon, was staying at his mother's home which was spared from the storm. God had blessed us by not being home and he would continue to bless us throughout the entire process.

Because of the websites that I owned, many people from around the world sent messages and words of encouragement to us. However, we were so busy at the time, that I was not able to keep contact information straight and lost the names and numbers of most of the people that I was in contact with. So, this website will serve as a way for the people that were intersted in my family and our story to stay in touch.

1213 Roland in Joplin, MO was a small house. It was an older house. But we had spent almost fifteen years building and remodeling it into exactly what we wanted in a house. It was our house and it was home.
This is our final tribute video to the home that we lost.

As I explained my wife and I were on vacation at the time. So, we had a car at the airport which is on the North side of Joplin and was safe. This is a short video of what we experienced as we drove into town. It is short because my wife turned the camera off due to the foul language coming out of my mouth. But, the most amazing thing is that I did not recognize my own street. After almost fifteen years, I had no idea where I was a block from where I lived.

This is a short video of April giving an explanation of the damage.

I am not sure which was more emotional. The actual tornado or when the construction company took the rest away..
In this video we had received notice that the construction company was going to tare down the rest of the structure. I think it was a little more than April could take on her own. I am glad I was able to get there a little later.
